Email Verification Process
Every email address in every database undergoes a multi-stage verification process before inclusion and on each quarterly re-verification cycle:
SMTP Verification
Each address is validated against the mail server using Simple Mail Transfer Protocol (SMTP) verification as defined by IETF RFC 5321. The mail server is queried to confirm the address will accept delivery without sending any actual email.
Domain MX Record Check
The domain's Mail Exchange (MX) records are verified to confirm active email routing. Domains without valid MX records are flagged and removed.
Company Registry Cross-Reference
Contact records are cross-referenced against public company registries to confirm the business is still active and the contact is still affiliated with the organisation.
Syntax & Format Validation
All addresses are validated against RFC 5322 email format specifications. Malformed addresses are automatically rejected.
Quarterly Re-Verification
The full verification cycle is repeated every quarter to remove stale contacts from job changes, domain expiries, and business closures. Industry average: 20-25% of B2B contacts change annually.
Quality Thresholds
| Metric | Target Standard | Industry Average |
|---|---|---|
| Email Verification Rate | 95%+ | 85-90% |
| Hard Bounce Rate | < 2% | 3-8% |
| Re-Verification Frequency | Quarterly | Annually |
| Data Sources per Record | 2+ sources | 1 source |
Industry Classification
B2B contact records are classified using SIC codes and NAICS codes where available, supplemented by proprietary classification algorithms for records without formal industry codes. Classification covers 15+ top-level industry categories.
Compliance Framework
All databases in this index are designed for compliant use. Each database page includes the specific regulatory framework applicable to that geography:
